Introduction to deep learning for image classification workshop (VIDEO)
In addition to its annual conference held every March, the global Women in Data Science (WiDS) organization hosts workshops and other activities year-round to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. On June 29, LLNL’s Cindy Gonzales led a WiDS Workshop titled “Introduction to Deep Learning for Image Classification.” The abstract follows: Image classification is a task in the Computer Vision domain that takes in an image as input and outputs a label for that image. Deep learning is the most effective modern method for modeling this task. In this interactive workshop, we will walkthrough a Jupyter Notebook which will overview how to perform multi-class image classification in Python using the PyTorch library. The intention is to give the audience a broad overview of this task of classification and inspire participants to explore the vast fields of visual recognition and computer vision at large.
